Swap Aptos (APT) for Starbucks Coupons – GEM.SWAP Emerges as a Gateway to Real-World Spending
GEMKRW enables exchanges for L.POINT, Baskin Robbins, and more
Game staking rewards can be converted into physical coupons
Similar models like Coinsbee, Bitrefill are expanding globally
A new service has emerged that allows users to convert virtual assets into real-world points. Through GEM.SWAP, a platform built on the Aptos mainnet, users can exchange crypto assets earned through gaming or DeFi activities for brand coupons from Lotte L.POINT, Starbucks, and Baskin Robbins.
According to industry sources on May 29, users can purchase gift cards ranging from KRW 10,000 to KRW 50,000 using GEMKRW tokens on GEM.SWAP. Supported brands include L.POINT, Lotte, Shinsegae, Starbucks, Baskin Robbins, and MetaClub’s MetaPoint. Coupons are delivered via the email or phone number registered on GEM.SWAP.
As of 3:26 PM on May 29, 50 USDT was equivalent to approximately 78,718 GEMKRW on the Panora DEX.
To obtain GEMKRW, users first purchase Aptos (APT) or Aptos-based stablecoins like USDT or USDC on a centralized exchange. They are then sent to Petra Wallet, Aptos’s native wallet. Using the decentralized exchange Panora, users can swap their assets for GEMKRW, with network fees paid separately. Users can then connect their GEMKRW wallet to GEM.SWAP and purchase the desired brand coupons.
GEMKRW can also be earned through gaming. In Jelly Adventure, a game connected to GEM.SWAP, users earn “Bubblegum” as a reward, which can be exchanged for Super Jelly NFTs. These NFTs can be converted to GEM tokens, which in turn can be swapped for GEMKRW and used for real-world purchases. The game is based on Lotte Homeshopping’s Bellygom NFT project.
An industry expert noted, “This method is convenient for foreigners, as it reduces identity verification requirements for high-value purchases in Korea and lowers foreign exchange fees.”
Globally, crypto-to-gift card conversion services are rapidly expanding. A notable example is Coinsbee, a German crypto gift card platform founded in 2019. It allows users to purchase gift cards from over 4,000 brands in 185 countries using more than 200 cryptocurrencies including BTC, ETH, and LTC. Over 500,000 users have used the platform. Sweden-based Bitrefill also offers similar services and is gaining popularity by converting crypto into real-world purchasing power.
